Setting up CAD Standard resources
I think the Standards Checker feature is one of the most overlooked features in AutoCAD.
First, we must locate our CAD Standard resources and tell AutoCAD where to find them. Although every organization distributes its standards file differently, try to standardize this structure and naming convention as much as possible.
Working with CAD Standards files
For this exercise, I have delivered predefined standards files (.DWS
) in the following location:
..\
ACAD_TipsTechniques\Exercise_Files\CompanyXYZ\standards\XYZ_Standards.dws
You can choose to include all CAD Standards resources in a single file or multiple files, based on their content. My personal preference is the multiple file configuration, as it is easier to maintain and update.
Global Standards file
The following file contains all global resources.
XYZ_Standards.dws |
