Newest Cloudflare serverless offerings

Part of Cloudflare’s vision is to become an all-rounder in providing a serverless platform at the edge. While Workers, Pages, and KV are the first step toward this vision, they have much more in store. We will examine two products that have been announced and are in private beta already.

Cloudflare R2 storage

R2 is the object storage offering from Cloudflare. Like the other object stores we discussed in previous chapters, R2 can also host large amounts of unstructured data. As S3 is the most common object storage on the market, it is common for many object storage vendors to provide S3-compatible APIs. R2 also provides full S3 compatibility, so existing tools and applications that support S3 will work seamlessly.
