Editing Existing Spatial Features
GIS data should represent the real world as completely and accurately as possible so that any analysis we do is correct. Since the world is constantly changing, we need to be able to update our GIS to reflect these changes. ArcGIS Pro includes a wealth of tools for editing our existing data so that it can accurately reflect the real world.
Before we start looking at specific tools and methods that you can use to edit and update existing GIS data, you need to understand what types of data ArcGIS Pro can edit. While ArcGIS Pro supports the use of a wide range of data in maps and analysis, it does have limits regarding data formats it can edit. On the spatial side, this is generally limited to data stored in geodatabases, shapefiles, and ArcGIS web feature services. Another limiting factor will be your license level. ArcGIS Pro has three licensing levels:
- Basic
- Standard
- Advanced
