Configuring Disk Shares on VM storage

Setting custom disk shares is particularly useful when you want to make sure that a VM receives a larger chunk of the disk bandwidth during contention for storage I/O bandwidth. By default, the disk share is set to Normal (1000). The other presets available to set custom shares are Low (500) and High (2000). In this recipe, we will learn how to configure disk shares on Virtual Machine Disks (VMDKs).

How to do it...

The following procedure will help you to configure/modify disk shares on a VMDK:

Connect to vCenter Server using the HTML5 client.

Right-click on the desired VM and go to Edit Settings...:
