Deleting a vSphere Standard Switch
When you choose to delete a vSwitch in a production environment, make sure that the virtual machines have been reconfigured to use a port group on another vSwitch, which would provide them with network access.
How to do it...
A vSwitch can be deleted either from the vSphere Web Client GUI or by using the esxcfg-vswitch
command.
Using the vSphere Web Client
The following procedure explains how to delete a vSwitch by using the vSphere Web Client:
Select the ESXi host from the inventory and navigate to Manage | Networking | Virtual switches.
Select the vSwitch to be deleted, and click on the delete (X) icon to remove the vSwitch from the ESXi host:
Click on Yes to confirm the removal:
You should see the Update network configuration and Remove virtual switch tasks completed successfully in the Recent Tasks pane:
