SAFe implements Scrum within its framework and shares some of its attributes, such as iterative development practices, incremental deliveries of new value, small teams, and customer centricity. But SAFe also implements modern concepts that are often associated with development operations (DevOps), which ties together development and support functions through closer communication and collaboration, plus automation and integration of product life cycle processes. Together, these capabilities make continuous development and delivery practices possible.
Rather than view the release of new product enhancements as discrete offerings, each with their beginnings and ends, SAFe conceptualizes the ongoing release of new products and enhancements as a part of a continuous delivery pipeline around value streams. SAFe defines value streams as the series of steps that an organization uses to implement Solutions that provide a continuous flow of value to a customer.
