Marketing Cloud data model
Marketing Cloud supports two methods for storing customer-specific data: lists and Data Extensions. Within a given Marketing Cloud instance, data access and permissions can also be sub-divided into BUs to reflect separate brands, geographies, or corporate entities that should not have access to shared data. BUs are only included in Marketing Cloud Enterprise edition, though they can be purchased for an extra cost in other editions.
