F-Curve Modifiers
With our journey into character animation at an end (mostly), let’s get back to the basics – but not too basic! These last few chapters are the advanced basics. This time, we’re going to visit the Graph Editor to learn one more feature: F-curve modifiers.
Modifier is a term that appears more than once in Blender. You may be familiar with the more prominent modifiers in the Properties Editor, which modify the geometry of a mesh object in your 3D scene. F-curve modifiers are based on a similar idea; they modify an F-curve, conveniently reducing the number of keyframes we need to insert to achieve certain results. In our case, they will even replace the F-curve completely!
In this chapter, you’ll learn about the following topics:
- Where F-curve modifiers live
- Periodic movement with F-curve modifiers
- My favorite modifier – Noise
- Restricting the frame range of an F-curve modifier
