Creating a term set using the managed metadata service
SharePoint 2010 provides the ability to centrally define common terms and reuse those terms in lists and libraries. This saves you time and brings consistency to your SharePoint data.
Getting ready
This recipe works for:
SharePoint 2010 – Standard Edition
SharePoint 2010 – Enterprise Edition
Office 365 (SharePoint Online)
You will need the Fu ll Control permission level to run this recipe. You will need to have been added as Term Store Admi nistrator to one or more Groups in the Managed Metadata Service to be able to create a new Term Set. This recipe creates a new Term Set under the Cookbook group for illustration.
How to do it...
Open the SharePoint site where you want to create a new term set.
Open the Site Actions menu and click Site Settings.
From Site Settings click on Term Store Management under the Site Administration section.
