Deploying Content between Environments
Corporate BI and IT teams familiar with project lifecycles, source control systems, and managing development, testing, and production environments should apply these processes to Power BI deployments too. At a minimum, professional BI teams should adopt tools and processes that provide a level of version control with Power BI files securely stored outside the Power BI service and have clear and streamlined procedures for the deployment of content across isolated environments or stages. For example, a team could opt to use an Azure DevOps Git repository for version control of Power BI files and require pre-deployment testing and documents in order for administrators to deploy content to production workspaces and apps.
