Using Whirl
This recipe will show us how to use the Whirl extension to deform an object to look like it was melted and rotated. The effect is similar to what happens when you stir the soft foam of a cappuccino, whirling the pattern made by the barista.
How to do it...
The following steps demonstrate how to use the Whirl extension:
1. Select the Star tool (Shift + F9 or *) and create a star with nine corners and a Spoke ratio: of 0.2. Don't move the object from its original position until Whirl is applied to get expected results.
2. Convert the star to a path (Shift + Ctrl + C) because the extension can only be applied to a path.
3. Increase the number of nodes in the path by selecting the Node tool (F2 or N). Then, select all the nodes (Ctrl + A) and press the Ins key (or press the Insert new nodes into the selected segments button ) several times.
4. Zoom to selection by pressing 3 so the star now fills the screen as much as possible. This step is important because the Whirl extension makes...
