Rendering barcodes
This recipe will show us how to use the Render | Barcode and Render | Barcode - Datamatrix extensions to generate... you guessed it, barcodes!
How to do it...
Carry out the following steps to create barcodes:
1. Open the Barcode dialog by going to Extensions | Render | Barcode....
2. Under Barcode Type: select EAN13, under Barcode Data: enter a 12-digit number (I used 123456789123), and under Bar Height: enter 80.
3. Press Apply, and the barcode will be rendered at the center of the visible Canvas.
4. Open the Barcode - Datamatrix dialog by going to Extensions | Render | Barcode - Datamatrix....
5. In the Text box enter "Inkscape", set Rows and Cols to 20, and Square Size / px to 5.
6. Press Apply, and the barcode will be rendered at the center of the visible Canvas.
Note
Although only one barcode type is used in this recipe there are ten types in total supported by the Barcode extension.
