The DevOps 360° Technological Ecosystem as a Service

In this chapter, we discuss the part of the DevOps 360° evolution that many in the industry find the most interesting to work with: the DevOps 360° technological ecosystem as a service. While interesting, the perception of this term, used by the technology and this book, is the source of most DevOps misconceptions. The chapter starts by discussing the value proposition of technology for the DevOps evolution, along with defining what is indicated by the term ecosystem and what the main counterparts of it are, in an incumbent’s context. Continuing, we focus on bringing clarity to the biggest DevOps misunderstanding in the industry, that is, equalizing DevOps and technology, while we provide our view on the real interrelation of the two.
