WebSphere deployments
When designing your Sametime infrastructure, you need to understand the deployment options available to you with WAS. Earlier we discussed the concepts of cells, nodes, and Deployment Managers, where a single Deployment Manager in a cell holds the configuration for all the servers in that cell. You may also have nodes which contain application servers and node agents that are responsible for the management of those servers. You should consider those concepts, as they can affect your infrastructure design. We will discuss some of these deployments in the following sections.
Single server deployment
In Sametime 8.5.2, you can install every application onto the same server. During each application installation, you will be prompted with the choice of adding that application to an existing cell or to create a new cell.
