Having understood the basics of networking, let's take a look at the second important underpinning service, the DNS or the Domain Name System. In the case of the hybrid cloud, it is instrumental to redirect traffic appropriately to the servers from the user machines (or even between the servers).

Before we get into how this works with hybrids, let's quickly understand the basics of the DNS query and how we can manipulate it into sending the traffic to different places.
