Now that you understand the different characteristics of a template, it's time to start thinking about which of the 30+ templates that Squarespace offers is the right one for you. In this part of the chapter, we'll outline the steps and techniques you can use to make the right decision and explore the different templates currently available.

Before we start exploring the templates, it's important to note that Squarespace keeps the design of your site separate from the content. This means that you can safely change the site template without affecting the content. Therefore, although our goal is to choose the right template from the start, you can always switch templates later, even after you have filled the site with your content, without worrying about losing your work. This makes it possible for you to freshen up your site in future, whenever you fancy a new look.
