To get the most out of this book
The entire story represents a journey to the cloud, and the order of the chapters is based on this journey. Even if each chapter talks about a specific area in cloud computing and IT in general, we strongly recommend you read the book chapter by chapter in the proposed order. Only in this way can you fully get all the concepts and the challenges that companies usually face during the cloud journey.
At the end of every chapter, we provide a list of links that we highly recommend you look at, to integrate the concepts explained with additional information. Some of the links point to the official AWS documentation, others to third-party sources.
To do your own testing, you need an AWS account. Go to https://aws.amazon.com/free/, where you can register for an account from where some services can be tested for free for a limited time (typically, a full year). Read the conditions carefully so you don’t incur any charges.
Once you have it, you only need internet access, and one supported browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari). Check out https://aws.amazon.com/console/features/.
