Locking sequences to make them less easily editable
It's important to make sure to communicate with others in your workgroup so they know a sequence has been locked and can't be edited, and ensure that they know how to unlock it if they need to. Not everyone knows about locking tracks in sequences and this may cause confusion in a workgrup.
There are two methods you can use to lock tracks in a sequence so that it is more difficult to perform an edit on those tracks. The first method will be presented in the How to do it... section, and the second will be in the There's more... section.
How to do it…
Load the sequence into the Timeline Window.
Using the Track Selectors, select the tracks you want to lock by enabling them. Only the enabled tracks will eventually become locked.
With the Timeline Window still active, go to Clip menu | Lock Tracks. Notice that in the Clip menu, right below the Lock Tracks choice, is Unlock Tracks.
