Chapter 11. InfoPath with MCMS Web Services
The usual way to maintain content in MCMS is by using the Web Author (in the browser) or the Authoring Connector for Microsoft Word. But often customers would like to use MCMS with other editing components to make integration into their business workflow easier. With Microsoft Office System 2003, the Office product has matured since the release of MCMS 2002 and now contains an information-gathering and management program named InfoPath. InfoPath is a powerful tool for designing electronic forms using a combination of XML and XSL. By combining InfoPath with MCMS 2002 via Web services, we can allow content authors to focus only on content and not worry about presentation. We can reduce the training time required for authors, as using InfoPath can be a lot simpler than learning how to operate the Web Author (for instance, switching between modes, selecting templates, and submitting postings) and also reduce the need to create extensive customizations...
