Working with Preflight
PDF as a digital page is very complex. What we see on the screen does not reveal the range of settings contained in the file that are used for processing by various devices at the time of printing. To help analyze the content of a PDF and possibly fix problems, we will work with the Preflight tool.
Here are the steps:
- In the Print Production tool, select Preflight. A feature-rich dialog box opens that stays open as long as you need it. Here is a screenshot:

Preflight lists different types of profiles that come with an Acrobat installation. Custom profiles may be added, and existing ones may be edited. Profiles can be shared with others; they can be exported and imported. Some are provided for PDF analysis only and some provide both analysis and a fix. You can identify fixups by the wrench symbol.
