Deploying Platform Services Controller


PSC must be installed before installing the vCenter server. If you are installing PSC and the vCenter software on the same VM, then you can install them at the same time. PSC runs three services: vCenter Single Sign-On, vSphere License Service, and VMware Certificate Authority. You can deploy a single PSC or multiple instances of PSC that are joined to the same Single Sign-On (SSO) domain. In this recipe, we will install PSC on an existing Windows 2012 R2 VM.

Getting ready

To step through this recipe, you will need a fresh installation of Windows 2012 R2 server with at least two CPUs and 4 GB of RAM free. No other prerequisites are required.

How to do it...

These instructions are specific to the vSphere 6.5 vCenter installation. Here are the steps to install PSC on an existing Windows 2012 R2 server:

  1. Download VMware vCenter server and modules for the Windows ISO file from: http://www.vmware.com/download.
