Enabling Virtual Machine Component Protection (VMCP)

Unlike an ESXi host going down, taking all of the virtual machines with it, it is quite possible that the storage access issues can render the virtual machine unusable. The VMware Component Protection (VMCP) feature of vSphere HA can recover VMs that have been affected by storage access issues. VMCP enables protection against two types of storage access issues, ADP and PDL, as previously mentioned.

In this recipe, we will learn how to enable protection against such storage events.

How to do it...

The following procedure will help you to enable VMCP on an HA cluster:

Connect to vCenter Server using the HTML5 client.
Select the cluster from the inventory, navigate to Configure...
