3D Warehouse II – Downloading, reviewing, and importing
A 3D Warehouse model is a complete and independent SketchUp model. This means it has imported images, tags, components, and styles. When you import a 3D Warehouse model directly into your own working model, you are bringing all those elements into your model. This could lead to a lot of unwanted information and geometry, clogging up or even corrupting your file.
For instance, we have seen models triple in size due to unreasonably large 3D Warehouse files. This can slow down your model and workflow tremendously.
The biggest nightmare is when we see models that no longer function properly because of an object directly imported from 3D Warehouse. Sometimes, no matter what you do, you can’t fix the issue, requiring you to recreate your entire design in a brand-new SketchUp file. What a headache, especially if you have spent hours developing your model!
Therefore, we always recommend reviewing and cleaning up...
