The Configuration Manager's discovery methods
Making an inventory of all the available resources in your infrastructure is of great benefit. System Center Configuration Manager can use different discovery methods to find these resources. There are seven types of discovery methods in the Configuration Manager, as follows:
Active Directory Forest: This method is used to discover entire Active Directory forests.
Active Directory Security Group: This method is used to discover the Active Directory security groups in an Active Directory domain.
Active Directory System: This method is used to discover the computer accounts in an Active Directory domain.
Active Directory System Group: This method is used to discover a group of computer or user accounts in an Active Directory domain.
