Time for action—adding drums to the Beats+Bassline Editor
Now that we have an empty editor, let's go grab ourselves a bass drum. Head over to the Side Bar and choose the Samples tab, giving us a list that looks similar to the following screenshot:
- Open up the
drums
directory by double-clicking on it. - Inside this folder are some juicy samples that come packaged with LMMS. To get our bass drum, (
bassdrum02
looks like a good bet...) into our Beats+Bassline Editor, simply drag it from the Side Bar to the Beats+Bassline Editor, in the blank workspace. A new 16-step sequencer will appear. Groovy:
Note
A sequencer is an instrument that plays a sample or sound in whatever pattern or sequence we choose.
What just happened?
Now that our sample is loaded into the Beats+Bassline Editor and we've got a sequencer to play that sample, we can start creating a pattern.
