Data Factory
The variety, velocity, and variety of data that organizations need to handle is expanding each day and they need an extract, transform, and load (ETL) tool that can keep pace. They also need to orchestrate activities across all the workloads within Fabric and compute engines outside Fabric. Azure Data Factory has a long history of delivering large-scale ETL functionality and was brought into Microsoft Fabric and updated to leverage the new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) foundation.
While many of the concepts from Azure Data Factory can be transferred to Fabric Data Factory, there are some notable changes of which to be aware. Before diving into the major areas of Data Factory, it’s important to understand the key terminology that will be used throughout this book:
