Software as a Service (SaaS)
The emergence of mainstream access to the Internet, fast data transfer speeds, and advancements in the capabilities of web browsers, has opened opportunities for a new type of software business model in recent years; this being the output of the software that is sold as opposed to selling the software itself.
The SaaS model shares many similarities with selling SaaP—most notably the similarities in its focus on developing the software upfront and therefore the likely need to have funding for its development and any pre-requisite research to ensure that the product design matches market demand.
