Adding a plot to a paper using LaTeX


As promised in the Introduction to this chapter, here is a recipe where you will need more than gnuplot to carry it out. This example assumes that you have a working LaTeX installation, including several common packages. For most people using gnuplot in the production of scientific or technical documents, this is a fairly safe assumption, as LaTeX is the preeminent platform for demanding technical typesetting. If you do not have LaTeX available or are unfamiliar with its workings, then this section might serve as an advertisement and, along with the next several recipes, provide a survey of what you can do when you get LaTeX and gnuplot working together. In the following figure, we have a section of what might be a gnuplot tutorial, showing a paragraph of text and a graph:
