What is custom duty/charge?

Customs duty are charges levied on goods when they cross international borders. It is a tax that is imposed on imported goods. These duties are charged by special authorities and bodies created by local governments and are meant to protect local industries, economies, and businesses.

Do I have to pay customs charges for the print book order?

The orders shipped to the countries that are listed under EU27 will not bear custom charges. They are paid by Packt as part of the order.

A custom duty or localized taxes may be applicable on the shipment and would be charged by the recipient country outside of the EU27 which should be paid by the customer and these duties are not included in the shipping charges been charged on the order.

How do I know my custom duty charges?

The amount of duty payable varies greatly depending on the imported goods, the country of origin and several other factors like the total invoice amount or dimensions like weight, and other such criteria applicable in your country.

For example:

If you live in Mexico, and the declared value of your ordered items is over $ 50, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 19% which will be $ 9.50 to the courier service.
Whereas if you live in Turkey, and the declared value of your ordered items is over € 22, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 18% which will be € 3.96 to the courier service.

How can I cancel my order?

Cancellation Policy for Published Printed Books:

You can cancel any order within 1 hour of placing the order. Simply contact customercare@packt.com with your order details or payment transaction id. If your order has already started the shipment process, we will do our best to stop it. However, if it is already on the way to you then when you receive it, you can contact us at customercare@packt.com using the returns and refund process.

Please understand that Packt Publishing cannot provide refunds or cancel any order except for the cases described in our Return Policy (i.e. Packt Publishing agrees to replace your printed book because it arrives damaged or material defect in book), Packt Publishing will not accept returns.

What is your returns and refunds policy?

Return Policy:

We want you to be happy with your purchase from Packtpub.com. We will not hassle you with returning print books to us. If the print book you receive from us is incorrect, damaged, doesn't work or is unacceptably late, please contact Customer Relations Team on customercare@packt.com with the order number and issue details as explained below:

If you ordered (eBook, Video or Print Book) incorrectly or accidentally, please contact Customer Relations Team on customercare@packt.com within one hour of placing the order and we will replace/refund you the item cost.
Sadly, if your eBook or Video file is faulty or a fault occurs during the eBook or Video being made available to you, i.e. during download then you should contact Customer Relations Team within 14 days of purchase on customercare@packt.com who will be able to resolve this issue for you.
You will have a choice of replacement or refund of the problem items.(damaged, defective or incorrect)
Once Customer Care Team confirms that you will be refunded, you should receive the refund within 10 to 12 working days.
If you are only requesting a refund of one book from a multiple order, then we will refund you the appropriate single item.
Where the items were shipped under a free shipping offer, there will be no shipping costs to refund.

What tax is charged?

Currently, no tax is charged on the purchase of any print book (subject to change based on the laws and regulations). I was recently approached by Packt Publishing about reviewing a new book called "Getting Started with Microsoft Lync Server 2013 written by Fabrizio Volpe" Before agreeing to write this review for Packt Publishing, I approached Fabrizo by Twitter to make sure he was happy for me to write a review.So the title, Getting Started with Microsoft Lync Server 2013? The title explains exactly what the book is about and is based on a Microsoft Lync Enterprise Pool deployment with SQL Witness and Office Web Apps. . Matt Landis written a ebook called "Microsoft Lync Server 2013 Step by Step for Anyone" and I have read through both Matt's and Fabrizio's books and Fabrizo book is well written covering all the basics with in depth information and I believe it is a good follow on to Matt Landis ebook with more details. When reading through the book it helped me address an issue I was dealing with at a customer site, so would say its very much worth a read if your new to Lync or currently studying Lync in more depth.So whats inside?The book contains 7 Chapters covering the following*Chapter 1 - Installing a Lync 2013 Enterprise Pool*Chapter 2 - Understanding Front End Pooling*Chapter 3 - Deploying Lync Mobility*Chapter 4 - Introducing the Lync Mediation Server*Chapter 5 - Getting Started with Lync Enterprise Voice*Chapter 6 - Deploying Persistent Chat Server*Chapter 7 - Choosing Lync 2013 ClientsAbout the AuthorFabrizo Volpe contributes a lot to the Lync Community via his blog and Youtube Channel so if you have come across them before. So over the past year I have gotten all sorts of random requests to review books, blog posts and all sorts of random content. Typically I just ignore the requests and move on with my day but a couple weeks ago I said yes to reviewing ¡°Getting Started with Microsoft Lync Server 2013¡å by Fabrizio Volpe.There are a few things in particular that I like about this book. First, the book isn¡¯t written as a ¡°formal book¡± but rather it reads like a really long blog post ¨C or a series of blog posts. I like that writing style as typically it is easier to read and relate to the author. Second, this book does a better job than TechNet does on the actual install process. Although TechNet has gotten better over the past few years I feel like they 1) fail to include screenshots when they should 2) assume you are creating a 12 server enterprise pool all the time. Lastly, this book does a nice job of including the correct references to TechNet and other MVP blog posts where necessary.So in conclusion, if you are new to Lync and need a book to help walk you through a lab deployment or understand the basics of the product, this book will certainly help you with that.NOTE: I wasn't paid or compensated for this review other than a copy of the eBook to review.

I was recently privileged to be selected to review the above titled book written by Fabrizio Volpe.This book is a great way to start to learn the intricacies of Microsoft Lync 2013, and the author has written a clear and concise publication that provides most of the basic information.There is a good walkthrough on how to install Microsoft Lync into an environment, along with details on how to configure the various roles within Lync (Enterprise Voice, Front End Pairing, Persistent Chat, and Mobility).This book, however, is not an in-depth publication and it is really aimed at those getting started on their Lync journey, rather than someone who wants to deep-dive into Lync.Overall I think this is a great book, and hope that Fabrizio writes more in the future.** Please note that I was asked to review this book by Packt Publishing, but have received no compensation for doing so.

Getting Started with Microsoft Lync Server 2013 is a for people who just start learning Lync, it is a simple, clear explanation some of the fundamentals of Lync.If you just started learn this technology, this a book for you!In 7 chapters you will not have deep dive in some topics, but you will have understanding How, Why and stepshow to accomplish SUCCESSFUL implementation.I am still reading this book, I will add more info soon.
