Inserting a placeholder clip
The editing process doesn't always begin after all shooting on a project has wrapped up. Sometimes editors are given footage to start editing far before a shoot has wrapped. When editing together a music video, a scene from a movie, or a promotional video, you may have 80 percent of what you need, but are still waiting on a few last-minute pickup shots or reshoots.
With the Placeholder generator, you can drop in temporary clips and make it display some basic elements of what the shot will look like and replace them later when needed. This is especially helpful when you are editing a timed piece that must be of a specific length and you want to get the timing down accurately and quickly, even before you have all your material.
How to do it...
1. Place you playhead between any two clips in a timeline of your choosing.
