Training meeting challenges


We've talked about what training is and isn't. We've learned that training isn't just a presentation. For the purposes of this chapter, I think it's important to recognize the difference between being a trainer and conducting training, because sometimes it can get in the way of training.

In the business world, there are training professionals; people who go to school to study how people learn and how to develop specific content for specific learning experiences. This chapter really isn't directed toward those people. Although if you're a training professional reading this, I hope you get a few tips you can use and share.

There are also people without formal training education and background who are asked to conduct training. It happens all the time and can be very successful. A person can be asked to put together a training session and do a great job conducting the training, without being a professional trainer. We're going to discuss exactly how to do that in this...
