Building a Base with Standard Meshes and a Mirror

In this chapter, you are going to start a second jewelry project, a bracelet plate you can customize with the coordinates of a special location. You'll start by learning more about making objects with a combination of standard meshes and the Boolean Modifier. You'll also learn about using the Mirror Modifier to save time and make your work symmetrical. Finally, you'll learn how to add text to your project, which is handy for custom engraving or embossing. In this chapter, we'll start by building the base plate for our bracelet. The skills you'll learn include:

  • Adding a cube and a cylinder to a project
  • Placing objects with the Transform section of the Properties Shelf
  • Changing an object's Origin
  • Using the Mirror Modifier to make symmetrical objects
