Setting up template applications
Our next step in setting up our Zabbix template is setting up template applications. Applications in Zabbix templates are used to keep our items structured under a group like identifier.
Getting ready
To get started with this recipe, you will need a Zabbix server and a template on that server, preferably our template created in the previous recipe.
How to do it…
Creating template applications is a way to easily sort items. To get started, the first thing you will need to do is navigate to the template and follow these steps:
- Go to Configuration | Templates and click on our template, called Template OS Linux by SNMPvX.
- Here, you will click the Applications option next to the template name and you'll be taken to this screen:

Now, the first thing I always want to do is create an application for Zabbix raw items and for General.
