Reviewing and stress testing the plan
Once the plan has been crafted, it is time to test it. The team will walk the plan step-by-step, identifying all the dependencies for each action. Trigger points for actions or deviations to happen will need to be formalized and documented as being either event-based or time-based. If those changes are event-based, identify the event. If they are time-based, identify what the time period is.
When conducting the review, flesh out the single points of failure and where the assumptions are hiding. Walk through the thought process in terms of what happens when unplanned events occur, and the plan fails. Is there a cascading failure? Does a single failure put undue strain on another area of the plan? This circular thought process should be embraced until, at a minimum, the tertiary impacts for events are identified and analyzed.
