Your Legal Team Is Your Best Friend
The reality is legal involvement within cybersecurity is becoming more of a requirement nowadays. And I only see this increasing as the regulatory landscape continues to evolve with more requirements because of the increase in ongoing breaches. Because of this, it is imperative you build immediate relationships with your legal team and General Counsel if they exist within your organization. If your organization doesn’t have an in-house legal team or a General Counsel on staff, you will need to understand how these services are sourced and if there is an outside counsel being used. If an external service is being used for your organization, you will need to ensure engagement with the cybersecurity program.
