This section will discuss extracts from a performance aspect. Other aspects of extracts, such as scheduling and incremental refreshes, will not be considered here:
An extract is created via Data > [Data Source] > Extract Data:
- Filter the extract as needed: Sometimes an extract that exactly reflects a data source is warranted, but often filtering various fields will still populate the extract with the required data while shrinking the size and improving performance. To add a filter, simply click Add... to access a dialog box identical to the filter dialog box used within a worksheet.
- Aggregate to the level of the granularity represented in the view: Aggregation not only reduces the file size but can also be helpful from a security standpoint. Without aggregation, an extract is constructed using row-level data. Therefore...
