Using the Bloom effect


Bloom is the halo effect caused principally by bright lights in the scene. In real world, the camera lenses we use can never focus perfectly, but this is not a problem under normal conditions. However, when there is an intensely bright light in the scene, these imperfections are perceptible and visible, and as a consequence, in the photo that we would shoot, the bright light will appear to bleed beyond its usual borders.

Getting ready

To fully understand the usage of this effect, it will be good if you have an interior with a daylight scene or a scene with some artificial lights.

How to do it…

To add the Bloom effect to an image or a video, perform the following steps:

  1. From the right-hand side of the screen, select either the Photo or Movie mode.

  2. In case you select the Movie mode, make sure that you click on a clip to apply the effect.

  3. Click on the New effect button to access the library with the effects.

  4. From the Style tab, select the Bloom effect.

  5. The Bloom effect is applied...
