Profiling sample
Profiling can be used in several different manners, especially with IBM WebSphere Portal. Different techniques can be applied to expose or leverage WEF's profiling capabilities. Some of the most common techniques are as follows:
Expose profiles or profile values to portal administrators
Role-driven profiling
Value setter class
The first option is available only to users with portal administrative rights. In the first option, WEF exposes profiles or profile values through the Configure option available in each portlet. This way, when portal administrators select a profile or values associated with profile entries, the builder input values are applied to every portlet, regardless of the portal role defined for the different users. This option is valuable when you want to configure global settings to be applied to every user. Properties such as JNDI name, web services URLs, logging level, and other global properties can be easily configured through this mechanism.
