Exporting reports

You tried to customize the report by setting the options. Then you tried applying a stylesheet. After that you created a custom stylesheet of your own. However, at the end of it all, you found that you were not getting the report exactly the way you wanted it. What next?

If you are up against the limitations of GnuCash, then it is time to take the data and look for another application that will let you format it the way you want it. Accounting data is typically in tabular format and the presentation might need charting capability as well. A spreadsheet application such as Calc from OpenOffice.org or Microsoft Excel is well-suited to formatting tabular data as well as creating charts.

Fortunately, GnuCash lets you export report data readily in a convenient format so that it can be opened in popular spreadsheets and other applications.
