Business processes are all over information systems, and when talking to CEOs, they generally inform the way they see IT: as a way of automating the business processes of the company, providing reliability, repeatability, and – in the best systems – visibility of what happens that brings value to customers, be they internal or external. Business processes are at the heart of the company’s information system because each activity is generally ported by an instance of a process. When the company is certified with ISO 9001, each of the processes in the certified perimeter is precisely documented and its use by each of the actors concerned can be verified in practice.
