Understanding Generative AI

While AI is a broad topic, when I hear the community talking about it, most of the time they’re referring to a very specific form of AI – generative AI.

Generative AI refers to using AI to generate new content in various formats. Chances are you’ve interacted with an AI G AI can be used to generate many different types of content, including the following:

• Text content such as summarizations, email drafts, or chat responses
• Synthetic images and videos, based on a description and possibly other parameters
• Sounds, including sound effects, speech synthesis, and even music
• Complex content such as 3D models or architectural diagrams
• Data such as rows in a CSV file or JSON objects

It’s important to note that while the output of generative AI systems may seem novel, these systems have no understanding or creativity of their own.
