Discovering why data and analytics projects fail
We have discovered various research articles on the topic of data and analytics projects over the last 2 decades (yes—we’ve been dealing with data for more than 2 decades). As we all know, business intelligence (BI) projects can begin with a straightforward purpose and then fail for a variety of reasons, including:
- They involve multiple stakeholders
- They involve multiple actors
- They involve multiple suppliers
- Users do not adopt what we have created
Not just from our own experience, but also from the findings of several researchers, we discovered that the failure rate of data and analytics initiatives is quite high:
