Managing Hyper-V replica servers
While we have primarily reviewed a two-Hyper-V-host replica setup, we can also establish replica clusters for Hyper-V failover clusters. With the Hyper-V Replica Broker Role configured within the cluster, the cluster can be configured as either a primary cluster or a replica cluster. A replica cluster can use either the Kerberos (HTTP) or certificate-based (HTTPS) authentication type, and setting up allowed replication from a wildcard server configuration (e.g., *.domain.com
) with the use of the cluster shared storage as a storage location gives high availability to this Hyper-V replica role.
Hyper-V Replica settings are modified using the Hyper-V Manager interface for standalone Hyper-V servers. Conversely, Hyper-V failover clusters are configured using the Failover Cluster Manager interface.
