Learning about Gaia's roots – a historical note
Gaia is the operating system developed by Check Point. It is based on a heavily modified and fortified version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. It was conceived after Check Point's 2009 acquisition of the Nokia IP appliance business and the IPSO operating system, a popular choice with Check Point customers at the time. After merging Nokia IPSO with Check Point's own SecurePlatform (SPLAT) operating system, Nokia's Network Voyager interface has evolved into the Gaia WebUI and its CLI shell has evolved into Gaia's command-line interface, CLI Shell (CLISH).
