In today’s age of rapid development, there’s a need for constant updates and new features – think about how often there are new updates for the apps on your phone or how often there is a new update of Android OS or iOS. On top of major or minor releases with new features or bug fixes, there are often many more frequent security patches being released. Automotive IoT follows the same pattern, so there must be a focus on security. This focus on security must be top-down so that a cybersecurity culture can be created within the organization and security activities and solutions can be budgeted and planned for. The focus on security must also be driven bottom-up, ensuring that security technologies, requirements, and constraints are understood within a project, as well as that appropriate cybersecurity activities and testing approaches are applied to help achieve a certain level of cybersecurity assurance.
