A NAT gateway allows instances in a private subnet to initiate a connection to the internet, for example, for essential operating system updates, but it prevents any inbound access to the private subnet being initiated from the internet. Â
Now it's time to create our NAT gateway:
- Select NAT Gateways from the VPC Dashboard menu on the left and select the blue Create NAT Gateway button:
- Configure the NAT gateway by selecting Public_Subnet for the subnet and then select the Create New EIP button to populate Elastic IP Allocation ID. A NAT gateway uses Elastic IP (EIP) addresses for its addressing:
- Select Create a NAT Gateway and then select Close to go to the confirmation message.
Your NAT gateway will now be deployed within your Public_Subnet using an EIP. Â
