Deleting specific media files from clips (for example, just the A3 and A4 files)

Here's an example situation to put the steps in context:

  • You have ingested several long clips that contain a video track and four audio tracks (A1, A2, A3, and A4)

  • You realize that the audio on tracks A3 and A4 of each clip is unusable due to poor quality or is simply silent

Here is an overview of the goals in this example:

  • First, delete the audio files only for tracks A3 and A4.

  • Second, modify the Master Clips so that they do not link to (refer to) media that is now Offline. Modifying the Master Clips after deleting the media is to avoid confusion. If you (or the editor you're working for) play a clip that has A3 and A4 tracks, but can't hear anything on those tracks, you would wonder if something is wrong (for example, media not captured, media corrupted, media mistakenly deleted, and so on), and possibly waste time dealing with a non...
