An overview of an application (plastic)
Let us consider an injection molding application for manufacturing plastic components used at home or in automobiles. It could be making plastic cups, chairs, car dashboards, doors, or handles. Many things can be manufactured on an injection molding machine. Depending on the size of the part, the machine and its power increases, and the mold size also increases. Changing molds and manufacturing multiple components on a single machine is also possible.
Let us consider plastic cups being manufactured in an injection molding machine. The plastic granules are put in the hopper, and then these granules are pushed through a cylindrical barrel surrounded by heating elements. These heating elements melt the granules. A force provided by an electric motor or a hydraulic arm pushes the liquified plastics into the mold, which is pressed together so that plastic takes the form of the mold. A coolant cools the molten plastic in the mold, and the final...
