Defining the scope of the project

Defining the project’s scope is a critical part of the success of your project’s implementation. Without a clearly defined scope, your ability to measure whether the value of the project has been achieved will be made more difficult. In addition, the project team and any governance and decision-making structures created for the project will be significantly less effective at making decisions and taking action. Scoping a project should not just be about defining what should be done. Well-crafted scope includes insights gained from careful planning that can guide the project team in understanding possible risks, better prioritizing areas of uncertainty, simplifying solutions, and avoiding over-stretching their resources on out-of-scope activities (i.e., scope creep).
