Measuring resistance
The PicoBoard comes with four analog ports labelled A through D. Each port has its own set of alligator clips to form circuits. We'll be connecting a thermistor to the alligator clips in order to record the resistance of the thermistor over time. We'll complete this project in two exercises: one to record values and the other to chart the values.
Thermistors are commonly used as temperature sensors, and the next exercise will show us how to collect values from our thermistor that can be used in conjunction with temperature-based experiments. Wikipedia states that:
A thermistor is a type of resistor whose resistance varies significantly with temperature, more so than in standard resistors.
Thermistors are inexpensive and available from electric supply outlets that can be found online and in stores near you.
